![]() I cannot upgrade my Macbook Pro to Catalina, because I cannot run my Microsoft Office applications on Catalina. My son’s Macbook Pro (late 2011, running High Sierra) doesn't have this problem but he has Microsoft Office version 15.41. It seems odd that only two people reported this issue so far. Rasmussen reported the same issue in the AVG Community he is using a paid version of AVG. Microsoft wanted to move the Quick Access Toolbar from its familiar location ‘top. This will delete the Microsoft AutoUpdate app from the Mac: From the Finder of MacOS, pull down the Go menu and choose Go To Folder (or hit Command+Shift+G), and enter the following path: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/ Locate the folder named something like MAU or MAU2. In other words, common sense has prevailed. The current defaults remain for new installs with ‘below the ribbon’ available as an option. I searched the internet and haven't found a solution. Microsoft has reversed course on their proposed changes to the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) in Microsoft Office 365 apps. ![]() I guess the Microsoft Office Microsoft_AutoUpdate_1301_Updater.pkg software has burrowed itself deeply into my Mac. Then I re-ran AVG several times the same threat is reported and it will not resolve. I searched the Library for "Microsoft," and moved two plist files to Trash: I went into the Libraries, found Microsoft AutoUpdate.app and moved it to Trash. Go to this location on your Mac: /Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0. I uninstalled AVG Antivirus and re-installed it. The only way to stop it is to remove the autoupdate app. I run Microsoft Office version 16.16.15. After support for Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac ended on October 13, 2020, when running an AVG Antivirus Deep Scan, Microsoft_AutoUpdate_1301_Updater.pkg is reported as a Potentially Unwanted Program threat (Other:PUP-gen ) but it will not resolve.
